Hand-Forged Iron Door Knocker
Introductory price: $150This door knocker is hand-forged from solid iron at Upper Canada Forge and Ironworks. Hammered, shaped, and finished entirely by hand. The textured cross-plate carries the marks of the hammer, and the hand-forged ring sits on a deep, aged black patina that lets the warm undertones of the iron show through.
A piece like this brings old-world character to any entryway. The kind of detail that turns a front door into a first impression.
Details
- Solid forged iron construction
- Hand-hammered textured plate with sculpted ring/bail
- Deep black patina finish, hand-applied
- Sturdy, functional knock with real weight and presence
- Includes mounting hardware
- One-of-a-kind — no two are exactly alike
Care
Iron will age naturally with exposure. A light coat of oil or wax once or twice a year will help preserve the finish and prevent rust, especially in exterior installations.
Handmade in-house at Upper Canada Forge and Ironworks — where every piece is shaped by fire and hammer, not a mold.

Handmade Craftsmanship
Every item in our shop is hand-forged, one piece at a time, by a working blacksmith. Because each piece is shaped by hammer and fire rather than a mold, slight variations in texture, patina, shape, and finish are part of the character of the work — not a flaw. Photos are taken of the actual item (or a very close representative piece) so you know what to expect, but no two pieces will ever be perfectly identical.
Customer Satisfaction
We want you to love what you buy. If something arrives and you're not happy with it, reach out to us directly first — most concerns can be resolved quickly, whether that's answering a question, offering care guidance, or working out a fair solution together. We stand behind the quality of our work and want every customer to feel confident buying from us.
Returns
Ontario law does not require businesses to accept returns or exchanges for change-of-mind purchases — a return policy is offered at the seller's discretion. As a matter of good practice, we choose to offer the following:
We accept returns on non-custom, ready-made items within 14 days of delivery, provided the item is unused, unaltered, and in its original condition.
- Contact us before sending anything back so we can provide return instructions.
- Buyer is responsible for return shipping costs unless the item arrived damaged or defective.
- Items showing wear, damage from use, or alteration after delivery are not eligible for return.
Custom, made-to-order, or personalized pieces are final sale and cannot be returned for change-of-mind reasons, as they are made specifically for you. This does not affect your rights regarding items that are defective or materially different from what was described — those remain protected under Ontario consumer protection law regardless of final-sale terms.
Refunds
Once a return is received and inspected, we'll notify you of the approval status.
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
- Original shipping costs are non-refundable.
- If an item arrives damaged in transit, contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the damage and packaging — we'll arrange a replacement or full refund, including shipping, at no cost to you.
Delivery
Estimated delivery timelines will be provided at checkout or in your order confirmation. Made-to-order and custom pieces require additional production time, which will be communicated before you complete your purchase.
Under Ontario law, if your order is not delivered within 30 days of the promised delivery date, you have the right to request a refund. If you choose to keep an item that arrives later than promised, you give up the right to a refund for that late delivery.
Exchanges
We're happy to discuss exchanges for a different size or piece where available. Contact us to arrange this — exchanges follow the same 14-day, unused-condition window as returns.
Cancellations
Orders for ready-made items can be cancelled for a full refund if the item has not yet shipped. Custom orders can be cancelled only before forging work has begun; once materials are shaped for your piece, the order is considered in production and is non-refundable.
Care of Handmade Metal Goods
Copper and iron are living materials — they darken, patina, and age naturally over time. This is expected and does not indicate a defect. Basic care instructions are included with each piece; contact us anytime for guidance on restoring or maintaining shine and finish.
Contact
Questions about an order, a return, or anything else? Reach out anytime — we're a small forge and every piece matters to us, including how it lands with you.
