About the Blacksmith
Tucked in the quiet countryside of Ethel, Ontario, Upper Canada Forge and Ironworks is a working blacksmith shop built on more than 30 years of hands-on craft. John brings a rare combination to the anvil — a mechanical engineer's precision paired with a blacksmith's instinct for fire, iron, and copper. Every piece that leaves the forge is shaped the old way: heated, hammered, and finished by hand, one at a time. Behind the scenes, Kristi runs the side of the business that keeps the forge connected to the people who love its work. From the website and shop to the stories behind each piece. Together, they've built Upper Canada Forge and Ironworks into a place where traditional craft meets a genuine, hands-on approach to running a small business. We believe good ironwork should last generations, not seasons. From hand-forged door hardware and decorative ironwork to copper jewelry, cooking tools, and everyday functional pieces, each item carries the marks of the process that made it. No two are ever quite the same, and that's exactly the point. Upper Canada Forge and Ironworks is a small, family-run operation with deep roots in traditional craftsmanship. When you buy from us, you're getting a piece made by hand, by people who care about the work and the person it's going to. Thanks for supporting our small business!
